Hi, I’m Kristy and it’s an honor to have you here! I’m an end-of-life doula dedicated to offering comfort, dignity, and presence to individuals and families as they navigate the final chapter of life. With 30+ years of both professional and personal experience in caregiving, I understand the value in community and the importance of sharing the load by walking alongside those experiencing major life transitions.
End-of-life care is a passion of mine and especially led me to become an End-of-Life Doula as I saw the need first-hand, when providing care for my Father and Father-in-Law as they each took their last breath. It is a raw time and I believe every family should be well supported and cared for.
Before stepping into this role, I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a retirement home, as well as, provided care to the Elderly in their homes. Additionally I have been a Pastor’s wife and led various ministries that provided care to those in the Community. I’ve always had a natural sensitivity to the needs of others, and it is my goal to respond with compassion, calm, and practical support.
As part of my holistic approach, I incorporate the use of essential oils to help create a peaceful and soothing environment to those who welcome it. Whether it’s easing anxiety, promoting rest, or offering comfort through scent, aromatherapy can be a powerful companion in end-of-life care.
On a personal note, I have been married for 32 years to my husband Jeff. We have lived in Mount Joy for the last 30 years where we raised our two sons. Both of which are married and we’re delighted to have had girls join the family! I love practicing hospitality, gardening, decorating, antiquing and creating spaces that reflect order & peace and a sense of respite from the stressors of life.
My Doula work is more than a job, it’s a calling. I feel honored to walk alongside individuals and families during this sacred time, holding space with heartfelt presence and care.
I am a certified End of LIfe Doula with 25 years of experience as a Registered nurse, the majority of those in hospice nursing. As a hospice nurse I cared for those with terminal illness as they moved from the goal to be healed to the place of decision to continue to live life as fully as possible despite a terminal diagnosis.
I have provided a calming presence—holding space for emotional, spiritual, and practical needs for countless patients as they took their last breath. These experiences as well as being a helpful presence at the death of my own parents and loved ones has made me aware of how much death is unknown and feared and how uncomfortable and unwilling many are to talk about it. I desire to bring loved ones together in death rather than be isolated and alone.
For me there is nothing more sacred than engaging with the terminally ill and empowering those they love to care for them. It is my calling and privilege to walk alongside you in this tender time—so you are not alone, and your story is held with gentleness, respect, and honor..
I am wife to Chuck, mother of four adult sons, and grandmother to seven. I have lived in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area for 25 years. As a follower of Christ, my work is grounded in compassion, humility, and reverence for each person’s journey—regardless of faith or background.
Presence was born from a conversation between two friends who discovered a shared calling: to walk alongside individuals and families at the end of life. United by experience and faith, we felt called to offer something meaningful and unique—trusting that with God's help, we could be a source of comfort and peace during life’s most sacred transition.
We offer our presence while relying on The Presence to guide us with wisdom and love.
We offer steady, compassionate presence for individuals and families during life’s most vulnerable moments. Being fully present—emotionally, spiritually, and physically—is at the heart of everything we do.
We honor the wishes, beliefs, and values of the dying with deep respect and without judgment. Every person deserves to be seen, heard, and supported in a way that upholds their dignity and autonomy.
We understand that time is precious. Prompt, responsive visits ensure that needs are met with attentiveness and care, especially when moments matter most.
We communicate openly and truthfully, providing clear, compassionate guidance throughout the dying process.
We serve with consistency, reliability, and a strong ethical foundation—always doing what is right, even when it’s not easy.
We deeply respect your privacy. All personal, medical, and emotional information is held in strict confidence, ensuring a safe and trusted space for you and your loved ones.
Grounded in Christian faith, we believe that life is a gift from God and that each moment—from birth to natural death—holds purpose and meaning. Therefore, we do not support or participate in the hastening of death.
An end-of-life Doula is someone who provides non-medical and non-judgemental holistic support & comfort to the dying person and their family, which includes education & guidance as well as emotional, spiritual and/or practical care.
Doulas are team players and collaborate with other professionals to ensure excellent care is provided. We look at the big picture to see where there are gaps in care, and serve to bridge those gaps.
We provide non-medical care and do not replace Hospice or Palliative care, rather we complement it, filling in gaps of care.
No, you do not need to be on Hospice care in order to work with us. We will meet you where you are.
Presence: End-of-Life Doula Services is a fee-for-service provider. At this time insurance companies do not provide any coverage for EOLD services.
